Auburn Outdoors Holds a Lead Climbing Workshop

Nathan R.

At the rock wall on February 9th, Auburn Outdoors, taught students how to Lead climb!

Lead climbing is used more in natural outdoor climbing environments and is where climbers ascend a route by clipping their rope to a fixed point such as a carabineer bolted to the rock as they progress. This is different than the top-rope climbing at the rock wall in the Rec center as there is no rope at the top providing constant support.

Because of this, the students were taught how to properly clip the rope and even how to fall in the safest way.
